Add texture

It’s a good thing…Such a small, simple element that can make a big impact.

Adding texture to any space is so effective, it can be done in small gestures or really large ones. I do this in my own home, in my client’s homes and when working on a photo shoot. A jute rug or runner, a basket, stool or throw can be just what a room calls out for. After installing natural roman shades at a client’s home, we saw how such a simple addition can make a room feel more balanced and interesting. I love Pottery barns new linen lamp shades, for little money they add such a nice contrast. The heathered jute rug from Pottery is an all time favorite of mine. With boys and dogs it defies logic and manages to look pretty darn good, even after years of abuse. Give it a try…just add texture

You are so spot on. Texture.
It's what's for dinner!

i tend to decorate mostly with neutrals so texture has become my best friend for contrast although lately I find myself adding pops of color which is fun too.

p.s. forgot to mention that I used your tip of 'green' apples in my kitchen post! thanks for the tip! it was the one thing I added to the room, but it really does pop!

I've always loved those last two images of yours...the combination of wood and wicker are right up my alley and the addition of the cast iron urn sends me over the edge...true favorites. Brooke's dining room also has those same elements and is just lovely...the windows are a nice touch too! ;)

Kelly,
So I'm scrolling the pictures and if I was driving I would liken my reaction to SLAMMING on my brakes!

Thanks for sharing.
I'm now going, got to go see your website!
