Windsor Smith

One of my favorite current designers is Windsor Smith.  She is an extremely talented, beautiful, mother of two teen aged sons ,a wife and a successful business person. I was drawn to her designs early on when this image was first shown in House Beautiful. I searched for an affordable version of the open shelving;and  found my own rendition (not quite so grand) for my dining room.
I also LOVe the following image, everything works so well together...Love her trademark black high gloss door.
Windsor's use of vintage in every room works especially when paired with modern.  In House Besutiful's article about her own home they talk about her practical and whimsical style; so prevelant in these kids rooms.

When the 2009 House Beautiful article came out I immediately tore out the pages and put them on my inspiration board.  So many of the ideas I've tried to add to my own home...Black and white accents, high gloss paint, old and new, furnishings used in ways that aren't the norm...The jury is still out on if it worked in my house but for now the tear sheets remain front and center on my inspiration board...Check this out...

Thanks to everyone for the incredibly nice messages while I was away...It's sooooooooooooooo good to be home.  kelly

Welcome home.

I love these images. I'm pretty sure I have a photo of that kitchen in my collection of inspiration photos. Love the use of an upholstered chair in the kitchen. In a way, I think this black and white scheme is a slightly more formal variation of the casual wood and white combo I see in your work, especially with the use of bright green as an accent color. Both are as equally pleasing.

Love her style, the image of the hallway with the boots, orange books and that stunning print on the wall, has haunted me for a while now. And who can say no to a black gloss door - i can't, especially if it has lots of chrome fixtures! Love it.

Glad you're back home Kelly, hope the trip was a huge success! julesx

I love Windsor Smith and I have some her images in my files also. I have always used black and white accents in my home. I have an Entry post coming up and I have smith's entry, love it. My own home although much less Grande has a white carrera marble and absolute black granite floor, it was a dream of mine. Love this post, thank you for sharing. Kathysue

Have you seen the photo of her dining room in the Domino book? It's ridiculously beautiful. I've been trying to find a resource list for it...let me know if you come across one!
